There’s something about those Wilson sisters, I swear. I mean, besides their being phenomenally talented and innovative pop songwriters. Yes. There’s something about the Wilson sisters and spring. Something about the feelings. Odd but addicting. A sense of change sprung from the dull.
Anyway, I’m sitting here studying for a Spanish test and while Jenny Wilson sings ”No time for education so let’s go” in the fantastic song Let My Shoes Lead Me Forward, her sister Anna Wilson, from Dub Sweden, expresses something similar in We’re So Loud. They are words that really capture the essence of the booksmart, well-educated Swedish hipster/indie popper wondering what the hell happened to the punky riots and naive passion of the youth. They could also, just as easily, be transferred to any individual, like me sitting here bored and studying for a test, wondering:
Ooo, we never drink cheap wine no more
We never lay down on the floor
Ooo, taste this kiss or just walk away
‘Cause I’m done with loveless days!
