I was fired up beyond imagination when it turned out Parker Lewis new song, Över Kilsbergen, was better than I would have dared to imagine. The news of a new album from this Swedish singer-songwriter coming this September is one of my most anticipated releases of the year.
If possible, after seeing him live at Club King Kong a few nights ago, I’m even more psyched. He and his band played mostly new songs and they all sounded excellent, an extension of the sociopolitic manifesto that Över Kilsbergen is. It was Parker Lewis’ first gig in a long time, but the band still sounded tight and, thankfully, the ”old” songs that he played, Över Kilsbergen, Gäller Inte Dig and Ingen Så Blå, remained true to their studio versions. So even though I’m taking out Parker Lewis’ victory in advance, I’m pretty sure this means Swedish pop music will have a pretty good year in 2011 as well.
