I’m kinda bummed that I can’t afford to go to concerts right now. Especially as there are so many great ones in Stockholm this coming month. So there will be a lot of posts where I moan about not being able to see gigs. As an example, Jenny Wilson is joined by Tensta Gospel Choir, which she worked with on her latest release called Blazing, at Filadelfiakyrkan tonight. So I’m just gonna sit here at home and let myself become entranced by her best song to date: Let My Shoes Lead Me Forward. There’s something about the melodies in it that are somewhat askew, like tape warble from a really old record but still not. It sounds very alien and unlike anything I’ve ever heard. And yet the song is as catchy as a pop song can get. I remember just being completely blown away the first time I saw the mind-boggling and infamous video with all the shoes. This must have been in 2005, and my musical taste had not yet developed as to take me to some of the most interesting music in the indiesphere. But this song remains one of the most fascinating works I’ve ever heard.

Listen to Let My Shoes Lead Me Forward on Spotify!

And please do watch the video. It fits so incredibly nicely with the song. Still a joy for the ear. And somewhat of a sore for the brain. To think how long time that must’ve taken the video crew…

NOTE: You’ll notice how awful the sound is in this particular video, and still it was the best I could find! But try to enjoy it anyway.
