I’m sorry for the lack of updates. There are two main reasons behind this: 1. My computer’s screen has been really giving me a hard time, I think there’s a glitch in the power supply chord and 2. I’ve had a blast of a weekend doing boring things and most of all fun things. Yay!
One fun thing I did was attend another night my favourite club Fritz’s Corner throws. This time at Strand where they had booked Alexis Weak to support up and coming Theophilus London who decided ”London” sounded better as his artist name than his native ”Brooklyn”. I wish I could give you any detailed information about how these two guys perform live and tell you how awesome it was. But I’d had one too many drinks to really make some worthwhile comment and honestly, I don’t think they were that good live. I’ve really enjoyed listening to them on my ipod, they surely should be considered alternative hip hop by all measures but none of that fun, refreshing feel or wit or intelligence came through in either of their live shows. I remember feeling through the alcohol daze that it was too much mindless let’s-get-this-party-started-aaaight that neither their artistic personas could uphold or their discography would allow.

My memory is as blurry as the pictures above but I do want to leave you with one tip making this post worthwhile. If you know Swedish, great, check out Alexis Weak’s debut album Farväl Gullmarsplan, he’s an interesting addition to the Swedish rap scene. If you know English, great, seek out Theophilus London’s previous mixtapes, the Lovers Holiday EP and lookout for what he has in store next. He’s got many interesting tunes and despite my spotted impression of his live gig I do wish to believe that he could be onto something even better than the likes of Kid Cudi, Lupe Fiasco or B.O.B. have dumped in cross-over hip hop land.
