Since my post almost a month ago, the word has begun to spread about Australia’s latest pop delivery: Gypsy And The Cat. Now I’ve got a new, third track by the talented duo to share with you: The Piper’s Song. You’ve been able to stream it together with a bunch of other great songs for a while now. But with a little hint from my fellow blog Hype And Sick (thanks!) I was lead here to find the mp3 download of it. Of course you don’t need to take that jump - just grab it here below in the post!
With a more firm foundation of more listening to GATC and the repeated ipod spins of the new track, I wish to broaden the referential points with names such as Simon & Garfunkel and Fleetwood Mac (two names that the duo also cite as influences on the myspace). We all know that Australia, and specifically Modular, has been the leading country of the 80s pop aesthetic revival the last few years, but will Gypsy And The Cat be the band to take the country one step further - that is to say back in time? Is the 70s the new 80s? We’ll see about that when Gypsy And The Cat’s debut album drops (no confirmed date yet). I strongly look forward to hear polished, re-mixed and mastered versions of the already splendid songs we can now hear on the myspace. Watch out!
