This year’s summer compilation is a mixtape comprising 24 tracks by Swedish artists and bands where each track represents one hour of a typical Swedish summer day. I did not mean to patronize or canonize my own country’s music and culture - but with a risk of coming across as, dare I say nationalistic, this might just be exactly what I’m doing when releasing this little mix.

I am fully aware that I may be, no… AM, biased in the matter, being a Swedish citizen and all. But I just feel that I am allowed to feel proud of what we Swedes accomplish in the music field and even though I haven’t experienced many summer’s abroad, I just KNOW in my heart that there’s something magical surrounding the Swedish summer. Through rain and shine I, as a frozen Northern lemur, welcome each summer day as a blessing from a non-existent God I don’t really believe in.

Now to the mix. Some tracks are apparent right on the song’s title why I put them on a specific hour, some you’ll just have to listen to and agree/disagree with my choice. Another intention I had with this mix was that it could become like a helping tool to visualize how wonderful/horrible a Swedish summer day may be. That the sounds trigger pictures inside your head and create a coherent story unfolding as the mix goes on, as the tracks come and go, as the hours pass by. The good thing is that it doesn’t really have to take a whole day. Just 1 hour and 20 minutes of your time to help construct perhaps the closest thing you can get to a Swedish summer day without actually find yourself being in one. I hope you can join me on day!

Download the mixtape and find the tracklist including a handful of separate appetizer tracks for download below.

Great mix, but surprised that you didn’t use Kleerup’s “3am” for the track at that time.

Love the mix. Is there any way to download it separated into individual tracks? I get it as one long mp3.

    Regards from Toronto…
