I’ve been away from blogging a while and now that I return after a weekend soaked in some sort of state of faux semi-depressive alcohol consumption (due to the most shocking news of the year), someone very significant and important in my and many other people’s lives has gone away.

Michael Jackson died at the age of 50. Apparently the cause of death was cardiac arrest. I am still in shock. The whole thing just seems so surreal. What we will probably experience in the next coming months is theories, “secrets” being exposed, discussions but most of all a further process of inconization of the human being Michael Jackson. I was actually looking forward to see where MJ might have taken his music through the scheduled but cancelled tour and rumoured album. Would he have spoiled his already spotted image further with a crappy, “safing” image or would he have once again blown everybody’s mind as if 50 years was nothing at all? I believe the former but I knew that time would’ve made me wiser and probably proved a litte less black/white result of his comeback.  But now we will never know.

Something else that we’ve already seen a lot of (through radio and TV foremostly) is tributes of all kinds to the deceased pop master. Quite a few have dropped in my inbox and I’ve done a selection as The Lemur Blog’s way to salute the definite King of Pop.

DJ Soap mixed together 20 of his most famous, popular and beloved songs into nine minutes of proof that Jackson is sure to remain in people’s hearts and minds forever. As long as we do that, there’s no reason to say goodbye to one of the greatest artists who ever moonwalked on this earth.

Don Diablo - Song For MJ (Remember The Time)

No less than two of his tracks were covered in Buffetlibre’s Rewind 2. LAZRtag made Smooth Criminal into the banger every hipster wanted and Josh & Anand put a charming indietronica R’n'B suit on Billie Jean.

VIKING and CJ Milli make us feel a little less alone in the neverending pop universe when putting MJ’s You Are Not Alone together with Bag Raiders‘ Shooting Stars.
