For the second time I am facing three new random tracks to rate and review. Let’s just hope that I should rate them on a 1-10 scale and not a 1-5 scale which I initially did in my first 3 Randoms post.

Sébastien Tellier - Oh Malheur Chez O’Malley
With this track we were introduced to the eccentric musical mind of Sébastien Tellier for the first time. As the opener to Tellier’s much overlooked 2001 debut album L’incroyable Vérité, Oh Malheur Chez O’Malley sets a lo-fi feeling but elegantly performed dramatic beginning to an album that befouls “good culture/ fine arts” as much as it respects it. A trendsetting and very French piano playing is joined by background howling and cheesy, organ-like synths painting a disturbing, cinematic picture. It’s an interesting track, but rather thin on content.

Bon Iver - Creature Fear
Creature Fear is one of my very favourite tracks by the incredibly talented Bon Iver. The songwriting is spotless while the recording is charmingly lo-fi and unperfect. It’s a splendid example of Bon Iver’s ability to craft melodies that hooks and intrigues you over and over again, more and more by each listen. The subtle and vague lyrics are kept short and insinuating which endorse the track an almost mythical aura.

Harlem Shakes - Sunlight <— via
Brooklyn band Harlem Shakes have been garnering a lot of positive attention for their debut album Technicolor Health, released March this year. Arriving with the Spring carrying a blogosphere hit-potential set of poppy indie rock songs in the luggage I have a feeling they might just grow to be one of the most hyped acts right in time for Summer. Sunlight is one of my favourite pre-summer hype tracks right now and showcases a style that is as catchy and danceable as it is relaxing and sunny.
