Parker Lewis released a new EP today! It’s called The Cynicals and of course it’s based around the third track off his eponymous debut: Bash The Cynicals, which was one of my very favourites tracks. You’re immediately a bit stunned when looking at this white-haired feller on the cover art, don’t you think? While his debut cover had a sense of style and class this one feels more slightly ironic, raw, straightforward and toxicly acid in its presentation. I think Joakim, the owner of Parker’s label Mad For It, must be joking when he claims that this is Parker we’re seeing, with all due respect.
However, the EP is as wonderul as anything that has come from the great young talent Parker Lewis. Other than the title track, we are introduced to three new, wonderful tracks of the finest, sweetest Swedish indie pop. Libre must be quite new and fresh, because there seems to be no other reason as to why the gem didn’t appear on the full album, which was quite short on tracks to be honest.
Morning Glory is indeed a brilliant Oasis cover, originally recorded for Buffetlibre’s Rewind 2 project. He ended up using his equally loveable cover of Ronnie Milsap’s I Wouldn’t Have Missed It For The World. Then we also have an indie R&B remix of Trouble (!) which puts Parker closer to his work under the name Alvy Singer. The remix is by Alexander Lucas Rebirth and who this talented ear for good music might be no one seems to know.
As usual you can download the EP for free over at Mad For It. But I have used the same link here if you’re in such a rush you don’t have time to visit their site. You can also download the separate tracks below.

For that “remix” (the 4th track), did the guy just put the vocals to the beat from Mariah Carey’s “We belong together”?
The cover is from Nick Lowe’s album “The Convincer” from 2001 (just about the coolest album cover I know), with a mystery face covering his own.
