ID3-tagging mp3s is a powerful weapon in the blogosphere…
Justice is a powerful name in the blogosphere.
Will you kids ever learn? I swear to God it was just a silly and impulsive move of me to tag the The Golden Filter - Solid Gold mp3 as Michael Jackson - Thriller (Justice Remix). I did NOT think that it would actually work. Do you remember my Coldplay - Violet Hill (Justice’s Death And All His Friends Remix) (Demo Bootleg Rip) gag in 2008 when I was still at Blogger? That was hilarious. I laughed my way all through that circus. This gag is not as fun because I’m being serious and it isn’t as well thought through as the Coldplay gag was. I never thought it would actually work, but I still wanted to try when I just came up with it purely spontaneously. I just wanted to attract attention to the ten acts I listed. No matter how good The Golden Filter is, Justice is a little more attractive and credible on Hypem.
REMEMBER:
Whenever you see a new unconfirmed Justice remix, put your critical reviewing glasses on! You can’t just throw yourself out there into the euphoria that is a new Justice remix.
I think that as a blogger you’re entitled to one fake Justice track gag a year, not including the obligatory April’s Fool joke. I would never fake tracks that aren’t affiliated with Justice in any way, and now that I’ve used up mine for 2009 there’s no need for you to worry anymore
2010 will be the best fake Justice track gag year EVER, I promise, haha!

Just imagine how great hypem will become once everyone else starts posting fake songs. Good job.

Oh c’mooon! Do you have any sense of humour? Do you believe everything you read in books, watch on TV and see at the cinema? If Britney Spears sings “Love is good” does it make love good? Fake Justice tracks are an important part of Hypem, actually an ESSENTIAL part of Hypem, if you ask me. If we can, if the bloggers are able to, why shouldn’t we use up our once-a-year chance to post a fake Justice track? Haha! ![]()
I don’t think Hypem will be swimming in fake tracks other than a few fake Justice tracks, so there’s no need to worry about that.

My friend sent me this link in haste, exclaiming “Dude!”.
Then we started listening and he was like “Who the fuck is this. Doesnt sound like Thriller.”
“Goddamnit. This is the Golden Filter.”
Not cool man. Not cool.
The Lemur says
Please read my previous comment to comment. And I sure hope that’s a positively meant Goddamnit expression you’re using! The Golden Filter is GOLD!

The Golden Filter - Solid Gold
I funcking like it!
but please dont do it often OK?
LOL

See, everyone? This guy/chick has got it! He saw the good parts of it: the crappy humour and the awesome track behind the fake ID3 tagging. But still remaining realistic and asking me not do it often. Fair and square. And as I said, I will only do it once a year besides the obligatory un-Justice-related April’s Fool gag. Best blog comment EVER!

Almost every blog does an April’s Fool joke - wether it’s Justice-related or not. Wakey wakey, feller!

Hammarin & Robin’s first single “Lingering regret/Hells Know I’m In Love” took me with a blast. I’m glad that I live in the same city as them

I go to Hypem when I want good music recommendations. That’s Hypem’s job. When I click a song I expect it to exist.
All you have to do is post songs that exist and it takes care of the rest. So if you want to promote your bands, then post about them and if people like them they will become popular at Hypem.
You are wrecking the system, fuck you.
The Lemur says
This commenter has thought long and well on his comment. You can tell it right away by how he/she started with adding a name that just screams “RELEVANCY” and “MATURITY” at the same time: ilemuredyourmom
Then he/she states that he/she were actually looking for real tracks and good recommendations and that this would be one of those. He/she ends with stating that I am wrecking the balance on Hypem and ends with a classic expression: fuck you.
I don’t have to deal with this. There’s nothing to comment on. I let you guys judge this dude/chick yourselves.

What remix is this???
The Lemur says
This was a fake remix. The track is actually The Golden Filter - Solid Gold. Please let me know if you have more relevant questions.

srsly itz ttly not kwel 2 f#*@ w PeOpLe like dat!~~~[]@ (rosethorn98@dragonwar.lair)
I immediately knew this was not thriller (of which the Villains remix IS pure gold) but continued to listen because I already knew the song and loved it. Turns out I had this both from the SXSW showcasing artists pack and A-Traks semi new album Infinity +1. Great song and deserved of the trickery I would say. The other bands posted there are also very good and you probably have seen some of their stuff up at hypem as well. I really dont see the problem here because if you knew either artist (Michael Jackson or Justice) you would realize the tags are wrong and read the post to investigate, which is exactly what The Lemur wanted you to do, to see some of the great up and coming artists of 2009. Song names and artists matter much less than the music so call this a new Girl t Talk remix for all I care. As long as the music is good, I will listen to it, no matter what name or artist it bears.
good prank. ive always thought justice was hyped as hell and i think its funny that no matter how shitty a justice remix is (most of them are really shitty) that people will claim its the new holy grail of electro before even listening to it. in their mind the song is already going to be great so they cant ACTUALLY listen to it and judge if its good or not. its telling when so many people are pissed that a song was not actually justice, because it shows how much they pay attention to the artist remixing it and not the actual remix itself.
All things considered, I think the altogether greatest reason for us to stop being fooled by the fake Justice remixes is the fact that Justice was quoted in an interview saying something along the lines of, “Remixes? Oh we don’t do them anymore. They were good for when we were smaller, but now we’re over that. You won’t be seeing anymore Justice remixes.”
Might’ve been Pitchfork? Either way, just confirms the claims that they’ve become caught up in their own hype.
Well, you got me good, when I saw Michael Jackson - Thriller (justice remix), my head allready started to bang. But once I heard it, my first reaction was “wow, that’s a really bad remix by jusice”. Now I’ve seen your “Fake jusitce Post”, I GOT IT!!! Like the others said its not cool to trick people like that. But if its once a year kinda prank then its cool with me:)
That’s true Greg, but there are also others, like me, who just generally like Justice’s sound, and even their bad stuff is good in a sense. Everyone has their own taste, and Justice’s brand of electreaux, for me, goes down so well. But still I never judge a song before I listen to it.
i agree greg. it made me laugh how many people ‘loved’ it.
@ The Lemur
lol, thought you moved my comment from the original post to this one. Nevermind, I can see the “fun” in it. He actually showed us TEN good BANDS (with like FIVE songs each) instead of ONE potential good SONG. Don’t be mad, I was also like “wtf?” but I laughed a bit at the people “loving” the fake Justice song
But srsly, stop tricking me xD third time I enter this post, lol ^^
Don’t worry about whatever people are saying - as far as I can see, a music blog’s greatest purpose is to introduce people to fantastic new music, and if that was your way of doing it, then so be it! You were doing them a favour, but they were just too close minded to appreciate it. Seriously, Justice aren’t the only electronic act worth listening too!
Just… don’t do it all the time
@ The Lemur
thanks!
Woops, sry, saw the real tracks now
If you come with this tracks tagged with fake names, and this track can surprise and sounds better than the fake track supposed to sound, just like this one… I will never complain!
But this is not that easy since you have to find a interresting fake name so…
yup! Once or twice a year is cool!
me cago en tu puta madre deja de hacer esas subnormaladas para ganar visitas, si tu blog es una puta mierda jodete coño.
Im really glad I have some closure on the mystery behind this fabled justice thriller mix.
I sure hope that justice will work with some jackson five stuff one day
the dre skull dj skeet skeet mix of want you back is hot but it was a good prank in that it got myself and a bunch of others out of the close minded super hype that surrounds justice and into looking at some new shit
Seriously it’s not a big deal but it’s not funny either. What’s the point to post fake tracks? In fact I think you should stop doing that if you want that people start to beleive your posts.
The only surprise I had was that it was the Golden Filter, not Rick Astley…
It’s not in any way intelligent or noble to go around false tagging mp3s. It’s not even funny when its actually good music. Its just a sad indictment on the actual track that you think it has to dress up as a Justice remix to get heard, rather than being judged on its own merit.
I take your point that its an easy way to get a track heard/get traffic for your blog by causing a scandal like that, and yeah, Justice have a lot of appeal - who wouldn’t want to hear a new, unheard of Justice remix? I just think its a bit lame to be honest :-/
I think the worst thing is that it sets a dangerous precedent, I’m not looking forward to seeing a spate of “BRAND NEW DAFT PUNK” tracks on hypem only to hear the halfbaked musical stylings of a 15 year old who downloaded fruity loops last weekend.
Fool’s Gold!
This blog is a bitch, useing fake tracks to promote a blog and then backing up your mistake with an imaginary rule “one time is allowd”, WTF?? one time is not allowed you fag. This blog is a bitch. Post real music for once
Hey Jesper, I know how you feel. I once did my own remix, and tagged as Violet Hill (The Cold Cut Remix). Everyone started ripping on me, saying, this doesn’t sound like Cold Cut! It’s strange, because I never even claimed to be Cold Cut, but it still got to the top of hypem! Funny stuff, I like social experiments, keep mixing up the blog game…
please dont ever do this again. last thing we need is hypem fucked by a thousand fake songs by shitty blogs trying to make it. apart from that <3 u lemur blog
I FART IN YOUR GENERAL DIRECTION!!!!
Wow, you abused the interwebz. Huge achievement. You are still an asshat and about as funny as seal clubbing.
hating hypem is old
so are blogs
they’re too mainstream now
everything i used to believe in is now becoming hollowed out and cliche that it’s killing my passionate drive inside me
i just want to be an authentic person within the realm of good sense
fuck
where to next?
all is lost
fuck the internet
[...] thought about posting a fake Justice remix to add to my point, but decided against it. Instead here is some music I really like, the songs [...]
I still like it even if it is a fake! I liked the synth sound (reminds me a bit of Planisphere). Still not as interesting as a real Justice song would have been, but still glad I heard it and enjoyed it none-the-less!
