The blogosphere is currently placing its bets on The Vanish, who made their Hypem debut only a week ago, for breakthrough of the year. The NYC duo’s blend of indie’s cornerstones: electro, pop and rock is not revolutionary and their night-out-ly discolicious tunes, of which three you can download below, may not be sensational. But I’ll be damned if they won’t remix, get remixed and put out an album until we’re all tired of them by the end of this year. I won’t mind at all, because the songs are tight, dancey and catchy - all needed for an indie breakthrough of the year!

Calling a song Heartbeat gives them 5 The Knife/José González/Annie/Kleerup/Late Of The Pier douchebag points, calling a song Hold On gives them 5 Hot Chip faux hipster points and 10 points goes to the unashamed flirt with the country of France, called I Don’t Speak French.
