You know the times that you suddenly “remember” that a certain song exists and you remember what an amazing song it is. It’s like it’s been gnawing away in the back of your head, itching to be loved intensively by you once again. This is one of those times. Kate Nash was one of my darling debutants in 2007 with her lovely debut Made Of Bricks. I’ve as of recent renewed my love for Foundations, which is a spiky pop song displaying Kate’s emotional range and wonderful and unashamed British accent (”You said I must eat so many lemons cos I am so bittah. I said I’d rather be with your friends, mate, cos they are much fittah“). Irritation, anger, embarassment, disappointment, love, despair, chill, hopelessness are all what made the compelling and also catchy song a British #2 single and one of my favourite songs from that year. It has also a very good video, which fits Kate’s and her song’s style very well.

All that is left now is the wait for the young British talent’s follow-up to her successful debut.

It’s breakin’ me wee lemur heart when she sings the chorus

My fingertips are holding on to the cracks in our foundation.
And I know that I should let go but I can’t.

And every time we fight I know it’s not right,
every time that you’re upset and I smile.
I know I should forget, but I can’t.
