I’m absolutely dead serious with the post title. Hammarin & Robin takes all things that are great with Swedish pop and blow it up in a way that no other Swedish artist has dared or could. Theatrical and heavily emotional, Hammarin croons and twists his powerful vocals with elegance and a raw passion. His friend Robin stands for great backup vocals and the finest sense of production I’ve heard in a long long time. I can assure you that the triumphantly brilliant and majestically poppy Hell Knows I’m In Love will be on my top 10 of 2009 list! Lingering Regret is just as fine, only a little more humble compensated by being catchier and easier to sing along too, which I simply can’t avoid doing as soon as it is turned on.
Why, what other label than Sweden’s most creddy and indie label Mad For It, whom we also have Parker Lewis to thank for, has gotten the luck and honour to release their debut two-track EP Lingering Regret/Hell Knows I’m In Love? The good folks at the label released it at the very beginning of the year and I immediately went absolutely mad for it! Hammarin is by far the most, excuse the repetition, flamboyant pop vocalist to arrive from Sweden since… ever! Plus, he’s got a rad unique hairstyle ^^. I’m so glad I got the chance to spread it on CoS too. Check out the article here. As is customary with Mad For It, all the music is available for free download. Grab the two pop anthems individually here below, or as a zip from madforit.se.
For all that is holy don’t forget where you heard the name Hammarin & Robin first!
