Unfortunately I have to lay another artist singing in Swedish on you. But here I am, writing about music that moves me. Besides, he is produced by TTA and that ought to raise a few non-Swedish peeps’ interest too. His debut album På Nordpolen (On The North Pole) was released last year on Sincerely Yours of course, meeting Swedish music critics’ praise. Conveniently enough, he calls himself Nordpolen (The North Pole). He comes across as a little cold and the music isn’t exactly warm either.

He is not known at all abroad, which is understandable due to the linguistic circumstances. But in Sweden he is perhaps more known for appearing in this Swedish national big morning program and giving a rather chilly or at least difficult response to the two interviewers. They told him that he needed to get used to these things, he’s in national TV right now, that it might be a good idea to show compliance and so on. He replied that as an artist he certainly did not have to answer every question. He didn’t want or couldn’t describe his music and the process. I don’t know him personally, but after that interview I decided that I do not only admire his music, but also him as a human being in a public and artistic role. He’s a bit shy and probably doesn’t like me writing that much or thoroughly about the music or about him anyway. As he would say, it ruins the experience for the listener anyway.

I just need to say that I’m 17 years old now. I’m not a boy anymore. And the only thing helping me feel that innocently and unpretentiously young right now is Nordpolen’s music that encompasses the same boyish, ethereal, beautiful charm and sense of freedom and breaking chains that TTA once made theirs (paradoxically enough I’m younger than any of them). Even more than before, though, there’s desperation, dejection, anxiety and depressive thoughts, adding a depth that appeals to my 17 year old confused persona. I think it’s good of TTA to give Nordpolen that blessing to express as well, only in Swedish. Never thought I’d hear TTA in Swedish but I guess Nordpolen is the closest thing you can come now. I should probably shut up now because I respect him and I don’t think he’d like me drawing comparisons to TTA and being too lengthy.
