Hello! Welcome! Finally I have come to the point where I start blogging at thelemurblog.com after two wonderful succesful years at thelemurblog.blogspot.com. If you are new to The Lemur: this is me! Please read the About section to find out more. The new The Lemur Blog is the next step in The Lemur’s internet crusade. Blogging will be taken to a whole new level in 2009, at least from my part.

Music has always been the biggest part of my life, along with love, friendship, happiness and those tiny mint chocolates on hotel pillows. Music is yet another one of those subjects which is hard to define and get a grip of. You may understand the powers behind that are driving the music forward, you may be able to write fancy reviews for Pitchfork, you may spend a lifetime plucking on guitar strings, but you will never EVER understand the true magic of music. No one does, no one has and no one will. I’m on a quest to dig deeper into the core of the meaning of sound. It’s not the type of quest which has a goal, even less do I have a chance of reaching it. It is not my intention either. Nonetheless, it’s a quest which I have to accept and embrace.

This means I will be writing more about what on the surface doesn’t look music-related. Because to fully understand music I think that you need to first understand and accept that

EVERYTHING is MUSIC

MUSIC is EVERYTHING

There’s no boundaries, nor limits. Music could be any sound. Sound could be any music. Music is magic - just as much as it is an artform. Music floats around in the universe and affects its surroundings one way or another. That’s why I feel obliged to pay attention to those seemingly nonsense things too. Because they might just have something do with it all, that thing, floating around in the universe. Who said birds doesn’t care about music? Who said there isn’t music in chopping wood? Who said there isn’t music in eating a blueberry pie? Who said there even had to be music everywhere everytime in everything? So, are you ready? We’re going for one hell of a ride!

Good to see you back my friend, but I’m gonna have to be honest with you here: I’m going to miss the lovely little lemur you used to have guarding the home page. You didn’t get rid of him, did you?

    Hi Jesper,

Congratulations on your new blog. I just came from getting my teeth cleaned! And I surprisingly in a good mood. Perhaps, I will send you advance copies of some of the records I’m working on. I have a project with a Portland Indie band that you might enjoy. In the same vein as “Francis and the Lights”. Keep in touch… @HakimCallier (Twitter)

Thanks for welcoming me as warmly as I welcome you!

I’m going to create the linklist tomorrow and make sure all the blogs deserving to be on there are linked.

noiseporn: you’ll hear more from me on the forum! Already signed up :)

Kalmar: trevligt att ha svenskar med från starten :>)

Data Sapiens: Röyksopp hype there is going to be plenty of :D

richard 43: the address is still thelemurblog@hotmail.com if you have some treat for me ;)

Stephen: I haven’t got rid of the lemur but just couldn’t find a way to squeeze him in here. A pic in the right sidebar will have to do until further notice. ;>)

Hakim: I love FATL and would love to hear your music: send it to thelemurblog@hotmail.com and I’ll see if I like it enough for a post. :>D

PARTYCMYK: Do you think it’d be better with black text instead? Personally I’d just to make it a little bit bigger and thicker, and the list of comments here isn’t as easy to survey as I think it could be. But I’ll look into it! Need help with that, though, haha! Not a webdesiger you know, just a blogger. :>P

woo! Welcome back mate. I guess you couldn’t transfer your old posts eh? I thought there was a transfer process that could go from blogger -> wordpress.

  16. The Lemur on February 15th, 2009 at 23:02

sundtrak: I could, but haven’t tried. Haven’t seen the reason why really. I wanted a really fresh start this time. But I guess it couldn’t hurt importing them, since I’ve put a lot of work into my previous blog as well. We’ll take it from here.
